Hey yall it’s Chris here with my carbon emissions results. The envelope please! Lets see my total average (with the combined 3 websites) is 9.09! Wow! For some reason I thought it would be a lot more, considering I drive a giant ford explorer. I received a 3.08 on the first website which is the National Forest Foundation (http://www.natlforests.org). For the Nature Conservancy (http://www.nature.org) I received a 12 and for the last website (http://www.bp.com) I got at 12.5 ton per year average. I think the last 2 websites got it on the dot only because they both have almost the same results. The first website which is the National Forest Foundation didn’t really have a detailed questionnaire that the other websites had so it would be impossible to get close to a semi accurate number. To reduce my carbon emissions I can see myself maybe driving less and with a better car. I honestly don’t see anyone using zero emissions. It would be impossible for a productive member of society to use 0. For people to get to the zero emissions point we would have to all live in natural made structures, use our legs as transportation and our mouths to communicate. No cell phones, no cars, no computers, no nothing. Which I think would take us back to the Stone Age, not that it’s a bad thing. I think that it’s incredibly important for the human race to hit zero emissions but I don’t see it realistically. To help I personally would start using a bike just because I think it’s fun and environmentally friendly. I would also use a lot more blankets and not turn on the heater. Ok yall time to go peace out!!

Hi Chris. I chose to reply to your post because of my love for del carbon tacos at the del. They sure are delicious. I do agree that we need to all help out when it comes to lowering our emissions. I also agree that it seems virtually impossible to get to zero emissions. We could easily drive less and start riding bikes more. We could even ride a bike to the beach. There is a great trail along the Santa Ana river bed and think of the great exercise we would get! We could definitely use more blankets and maybe wear a pair or two of socks to bed to keep our feet warm. I too drive a big car and I feel kind of bad about it. I think I will trade it in as soon as my warranty is up.

ALRIGHT! Just because I drive ALOT for work doesnt mean you have to hate on me!!! :) just kidding. Is your score just for you though? Because mine if for my household...so me and my husband...and my 2 dogs...and 2 hamsters. (and the dogs and hamsters use LOTS of energy)

I love the bike idea! I used to ride my bike to school instead of driving. But now that I live 35 miles away from work that wouldn't really work. However, I feel like when the gas prices were soaring high (almost to $5 a gallon) people were finding other ways of getting around instead of driving. Many people were riding their bikes, walking more, carpooling and taking public transportation (which doesn't do a whole lot for the environment...but still) When something is no longer feasible in our society people find other ways of dealing with it. I think our environmental issues are going to have to become so bad that people finally wake up and realize they HAVE to do something. Anyways...I enjoyed your response/reaction to my post. I should have just lied about my number so I dont look like such an environmental killer! :( I feel so bad! BUT IM GOING TO CHANGE!

....that is the first step in changing your faults- admitting your problems!
